‘Feedback’ coming in ONE WEEK, NOV 2

for months i’ve been referring to my new record ‘feedback’ as a “worship” record.  but after reading these thoughts from my great friend/singer/songwriter/hymn writer matthew smith, i think i’m changing my language.  he describes it as a ‘soundtrack’ (i’ll let you read more below) and that feels much more accurate to me.  there are few friends whose opinions i so highly regard, so i was certainly honored to hear his insights.

so check out matthew’s ‘7 things you didn’t know about FEEDBACK,’ then check out his music:

Here are SEVEN THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW about the new @derekwebb instrumental worship record, FEEDBACK:

@SANDRAMCCRACKEN IS A STRONG PRESCENCE. Her sense of melody is all over this record. And the musical partnership works seamlessly.

INSTRUMENTAL DOESN’T MEAN NO SINGING. Vocals are used as an instrument, with a good deal of singing, but without words.

CLASSICALLY COMPOSED DOESN’T MEAN CLASSICAL. Modern instrumentation, classically structured. Can’t be confused with Mozart.

WORSHIP RECORD? IT’S A SOUNDTRACK. A soundtrack to prayer. If you’re down w/ http://esv.to/1thes5.17, it’s a soundtrack to life.

IT’S NOT A THROWAWAY SIDE PROJECT. Don’t skip it because it’s not a standard pop release. Derek’s not a standard pop artist.

IT’S A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME. He’s using programming to create expansive sonic landscapes without budget constraints. Brilliant.

IT WILL OFFEND YOU. It’s art that invites you to engage, not just consume. These days, that’s more scandalous than swear words.
